The Populus 2023 Curb Innovation Cohort will provide 5 new cities or agencies with professional and software services to pilot new technologies to improve safety and reduce congestion at their curbs. With this technology, participants can accelerate the create of Digital Smart Zones that help them capture new sources of revenue from their most precious asset—the curb.

Participating cities and agencies will benefit from shared best practices, complementary access to advanced technologies, and the ability to shape the future of curb management. The cohort will influence a broad range of issues that are critical to cities’ effective curb management strategies, including policy design, data standards, and technology.

 

Cities and organizations who are selected will receive:

  • One-year license to Curb Manager, including one year of historical commercial vehicle data.
    Through Populus’ partnerships, you’ll receive access to our data-driven Demand Analyzer solution with commercial fleet activity data in your city, from ridehailing to delivery. Historical data is available through January 2019.

  • Support to develop, implement, and manage a full-scale Digital Smart Zones pilot 
    Leverage our API- and GPS-enabled technology to share new loading zone policies, and reconcile loading and parking events from large commercial fleet operators.

  • Realtime Curb Activity information in the Curb Data Specification (CDS) format 
    As a Steering Committee member of the city-led data standard, CDS, Populus will partner with you to implement CDS with fleet operators participating in your Digital Smart Zones program.

  • Quarterly cohort meetings to share best practices and findings across participating cities 


Eligibility Criteria:
Eligible applicants include cities, regional agencies, metropolitan planning agencies, universities, stadiums, airport authorities, and port authorities. Further eligibility details:

  • Organizations and cities that have not participated in previous Populus’ curb challenge cohorts will receive priority

  • Organizations and cities that intend to launch Digital Smart Zones pilots/ programs

  • Participation in quarterly cohort meetings with participating cities

  • Cities that have not participated in previous Populus’ curb challenge cohorts will be prioritized
