Milan Partners with Populus for a Data-Driven Approach to Shared Mobility Management

Milan will leverage Populus Mobility Manager, which empowers cities to efficiently manage bikes, scooters, and other shared mobility services through access to better data.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA 7 March, 2024Populus, the global-leader for cities to manage transportation and mobility services, proudly announces its partnership with the City of Milan’s AGENZIA MOBILITÀ AMBIENTE TERRITORIO (AMAT) and launch of the Populus Mobility Manager Platform. The comprehensive platform will empower Milan to efficiently oversee its shared bicycle and scooter programs, supporting the program’s long term success.

With the rapid growth of shared mobility services in Milan, including bikes and scooters, the city recognized the need for a more robust management solution to effectively monitor key challenges such as parking compliance and infrastructure utilization. In selecting Populus Mobility Manager, Milan affirms its commitment to fostering sustainable transportation practices while enhancing the overall urban experience for residents and visitors alike.

Under the agreement, Populus is providing Milan with access to its secure Mobility Manager platform to optimize the city’s urban mobility - reducing traffic congestion, improving air quality, and enhancing the overall quality of life for its residents and visitors. Milan proactively sought a more robust data-driven platform to manage the city’s additional operators that have deployed e-scooter and bike fleets in recent months and found the perfect partner in Populus.

"At Populus, we are dedicated to helping cities navigate the complexities of modern transportation as new modes continue to enter the roadways," said Regina Clewlow, CEO and Co-Founder of Populus. "Our partnership with Milan underscores our shared vision of creating more efficient mobility ecosystems. We are thrilled to collaborate with the city in deploying our innovative platform to support its long-term sustainability goals."

"We are excited to embark on this journey with Populus to optimize our shared mobility programs," said Valentino Sevino, CEO at AMAT.
